The Topps Company was founded in 1938 as Topps Chewing Gum, and in its early years produced a popular penny "Topps Gum" from a factory in Brooklyn, NY. After World War II, the company developed Bazooka Bubble Gum, and in 1950, added trading cards to its product line. Baseball cards appeared in 1951 and quickly became a vital part of pop culture, a tradition that continues to this day. Topps was acquired in October of 2007 by Madison Dearborn Partners, a private equity group, and The Tornante Company, an investment company owned by Michael Eisner, former CEO of Disney. Although headquartered in New York City, Topps maintains offices in several countries including the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, India and Brazil.

 

Content Manager – North America Sports & Entertainment

Position Overview

 

The Topps Company is looking for a Content Manager to develop shareable content across a range of platforms, creative projects and campaigns. You will work closely with cross-functional business leaders, designers, marketers and vendors to produce entertaining and engaging content that increase metrics across all Topps digital channels and Topps brands. 

Responsibilities

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Create highly engaging, dynamic content for multiple channel outputs, including digital, social media and other Topps partner channels. Projects will include but are not limited to: cinematography, motion graphics, branding, static photography, editing, sound design, color grading, interviewing, directing, static product imagery, installation videos and images, set design, storyboarding, live broadcasts on social channels, videos, event/on-location work, publications and design
  • Collaborate with Content Creator, Content Editor and teams across multiple departments and brands to produce content in line with current and upcoming trends while ensuring the company’s brand is developed and consistently applied across a range of digital channels
  • Work with outside agencies, manage budgets, find on-camera talent; produce compelling, impactful programs that acquire new clients and build loyalty among existing clients; conduct on-camera interviews with both the public and celebrities; engage interviewees and at the same time entertain the viewer
  • Update and mange company programs of images, resources and digital/film assets
  • Create and manage the content schedule and budget

 

Qualifications

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Proven ability to create and publish shareable content across social platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Twitch and others as evidenced by a strong digital content portfolio, that demonstrates excellent aesthetics and ability to deliver compelling messages that resonate with the intended audience
  • Advanced skills with creating video content, audio or copy driven for digital channels, digital storytelling and ability to write, produce, self-shoot and edit content; advanced experience using social management and social publishing/listening tools
  • Superior written and oral communication skills; overwhelming attention to detail
  • Entrepreneurial spirit; versatile, flexible and thrives a fast-paced, dynamic environment, often with changing priorities; ability to successfully handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • A passion and knowledge for sports (especially baseball), pop culture, and/or collectibles world.
  • Can work non-traditional hours and weekends
  • Able to travel 10-20%
