  • Overview

    The Quality Assurance Proofreader (QA Proofreader) is responsible for reviewing digital and physical proofs of trading cards and packaging at all stages of the pre-press process. The QA Proofreader ensures that product artwork created by internal and external sources meets the standards of both Topps and its various licensors.


    • Proofread and copy edit manuscript copy provided by writers, reviewing for grammar, spelling, and licensor style requirements.

    •  Review composed digital trading card proofs:
      • Compare against internal design guidelines;
      • Verify image integrity;
      • Ensure all print tech plates (spot PMS, white plates, acryl etch, foil stamps, UV, dies) appear as specified;
      • Consult Bills of Materials (BOMs) to confirm print technology;
      • Check internal guidelines to ensure featured information is correct;
      • Ensure proper formatting of all text and graphics.
    • Check sheet layout templates to ensure that subjects are accurately placed on card fronts and backs, and that measurements are accurate.
    • Review imposed form sheets of trading cards prior to release to printer.
    • Proof packaging proofs for trading card products, some with multiple SKUs.

    •  Miscellaneous projects requiring attention to detail.

    •  Assist QA Manager with submissions for licensor review when needed.


    Skills & Abilities

    •  Excellent knowledge of grammar;
    • Attention to detail on both the micro and macro scale;
    • Familiarity with pop culture and sports, and ability to adapt to multiple licensor styles;
    • Working knowledge of Mac OS, Microsoft Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat;
    • Knowledge of print technology a plus.


    Education & Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree or equivalent in related field preferred.
